The brief
A famous shoe brand steps into the mattress industry
Comfort all day, comfort all night. Skechers, the famous shoe company, dipped their toes into the mattress industry with a brand new product line, and they wanted the launch done right.
Skechers is a large company with capable internal teams, but their new mattress division needed a partner with deep, specific expertise. Happy Dog has been building mattress software for a decade, so they brought us on as their software development team to launch the storefront properly and make it easy to manage.
Launching a new product is exciting, and it has to be handled with care. They wanted a store that was a pleasure to run and an experience customers could trust, built custom rather than squeezed into a WordPress or Shopify theme.
Discovery: mapping a product with many dimensions
A mattress is not a simple product to sell. It lives in many categories at once: sizes, comfort levels, and more, all of which shoppers use to find the right fit. Before writing a line of production code, we worked through that structure with the Skechers team to get the model exactly right. Ten years of building mattress software meant we knew the questions to ask, and getting the perfect setup up front is what made everything downstream go smoothly.
Design: a store that is a pleasure to run
Skechers did not want a themed store bolted onto WordPress or Shopify. They wanted something custom, something that matched the brand and, just as importantly, was easy for their team to manage day to day. We designed the storefront and its admin experience around both the shopper browsing for the right mattress and the people behind the scenes keeping the store running.

Development: custom ecommerce, tied to Stripe
We built the platform on Nuxt, Supabase, and Vercel, with a checkout wired directly into Stripe. The most satisfying piece of engineering is one shoppers feel without ever noticing: certain visual elements need to live in different parts of the page depending on the device. Using Vue's Teleport, we moved the same piece of code into different areas of the DOM with no extra bloat, so the current coupon renders perfectly on both mobile and desktop. We also built their find-a-retailer locator, giving customers a fast way to see where they could try a mattress in person.

Deployment: on time and on budget
Launching a new product line leaves little room for slipping deadlines. Despite a crunch timeline, the store shipped on time and on budget, and cleared review after just a single round of revisions. For a launch this visible, that kind of clean handoff is the goal.
I can't believe how amazing your team is!
Delight: rave reviews
The reaction said it all. The Skechers team came away with rave reviews, thrilled with both the finished storefront and the way the project ran. A new product line launched on a custom platform built to last, and a client delighted with the result.
